February LMS School Report

Clubs continue to have a great turn out. Over 64% of our students are participating in a club this year.  Clubs meet on Thursdays during lunch/recess.  The options this year were Leadership, Store Managers, Yearbook, Craft Club, Engineering, and the return of the much-requested chess club.  Diversity club has also begun as they meet every Monday during lunch.  Leadership put on a challenge last month that gave points for keeping the bathrooms clean.  At the end of the month, while all bathrooms were much cleaner than usual, the 5/6 and 7/8 girls were the winners and got to celebrate with a pajama day.  The last two weeks, leadership sold crush soda (a crush for your crush) as well as Valentine grams and handed them out last Wednesday on Valentines Day.  Following the second quarter we also had the addition of a music lab two days during lunch for students to get instruction on several different instruments by our music teacher, Mrs. Powell.  Drama club has also began meeting two days of the week after school and will be putting on a performance later on in the year.

Attendance continues to be strong as classes are rewarded for their attendance after spelling Lincoln Pride and receiving a letter for every day their class attendance is above 95%.

Wrestling and Girls Basketball are both completing their seasons and have good success and made tremendous growth.

Locker plaques, now done by grade level section, continue to be successful in increasing academic achievement and participation in activities after our second quarter of these rewards.

Students have done a good job of participating in the Pride t-shirt days every Thursday as we continue to get good engagement.

Outdoor school for the 5th grade class is quickly approaching with only a few weeks left before we depart. Turn out looks to be strong as the majority of the 5th grade class will be traveling with us. We look forward to making this a yearly activity where students stay overnight at a location with school staff for two nights.  Students will be traveling to Fossil Oregon to attend an outdoor school put on by OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) called Camp Hancock.

 LMS Counseling Report

February has proven once again to be an active month for LMS Counseling! With the new semester that January brought we see a range of student and family-initiated referrals for counseling services, community resources, organizational skills, and behavioral supports.  Medical and community mental health coordination has proven valuable for several students that have benefitted from a continuation of care and extension of services and/or goals across school, home, and medical environments. We are excited to see how our new partnership with Evergreen Family Medicine’s school-based telehealth services may help us increase our ability to serve students more efficiently, smoothly, and with greater family partnership.

We are continuing our work with students experiencing a wide range of needs. From building social skills, to establishing healthy boundaries, developing regulation skills, setting personal goals, and learning better school organizational strategies. We are working hard to help our students find success!

Additionally, our SEL Coordinator is continuing to run the LMS Diversity Club. This is a voluntary student club that meets weekly and focuses on accepting others, sharing our experiences, and working to make LMS a welcoming place for every student. This month the Club is working on seeing others’ character strengths and sharing emotions and feelings. The group has been well received by attendees and their parents/guardians.
